    Barista & Trainer

    Aug 2025 – Present · 4 mos

I train new hires to get a feel for the job by explaining and showing them how the business operates. I teach what to do in situations that will occur on the job, and prepare the new barista with all the necessary skills to preform highly in the tasks they are given while in their role. These skills include, but are not limited to: hot bar, cold bar, register, drive-thru, customer support, green apron and ovens. I am also responsible for being able to competently work in all these positions and continue to provide the back to Starbucks mission with creating a welcoming environment for customers.

    Barista

    Mar 2025 – Jul 2025 · 5 mos

As a barista, I go above and beyond with my work ethic. I am responsible for making drinks on both hot and cold bar in an adequate timeframe to allow for business to run smooth and efficient. When I am not on bar, I am in a role such as customer support, which is responsible for making sure the store has enough backups made, fridges are stocked with milks, dishes are low, the cafe area is clean and presentable, and able to slide into any position to cover for the barista planted there. Our other roles are ovens, and drive-thru, which involves warming food in a timely fashion, and communicating with drive-thru on order updates. Drive-thru is split into two parts: drive-thru order (DTO), and drive-thru register (DTR). DTR handles the communication with the customer, and the payments, while DTO handles taking the order from the speaker box, and sequencing orders at the hand-off to the barista in the DTR role. Baristas can be assigned either one of the roles, or solo (handling both). On evening shifts, I am also responsible for completing our closing tasks, which include cleaning floors, fridges, ovens, bathrooms, bars, vertica (drip coffee machine), dishes, food case, etc. Restocking items across the store is crucial during closes, so the openers can have a smooth and easy open.

Creating a welcoming and relaxing environment was the number one priority. Maintaining cleanliness and customer satisfaction was also crucial, as the business was dependent on returning customers. Ensuring customers got into their heated beds, sauna sessions, cryotherapy sessions and normatec safely and with ease, created a sense of connection with the customer while showing them it is very important to us that they have an enjoyable time.
